Class Descriptions:
Therapeutic Yoga
Suitable for beginners and for anyone with joint issues or muscular aches and pains. This class is designed to benefit people who need or choose to adopt a more therapeutic approach to yoga to counteract the stresses of modern life.
Therapeutic Yoga does not emphasise adopting and perfecting a particular shape with your body, so you do not have to be fit or flexible to do this class. Indeed, recent research is showing that most joint issues are being caused by over flexibility rather than tight or strong muscles.
Suitable for beginners, beneficial for all; especially those with joint issues, muscular imbalances, sleep issues and stress.
Dynamic Yoga
Dynamic Yoga sensitively and systematically recalibrates our neuromuscular pathways by cultivating natural, healthy movement patterns and harmonious relationships between the moving parts of the body that express themselves as freedom of movement in our joints.
These Dynamic Yoga classes are organised as progressive courses of nourishing, functional flow yoga. That start by strengthening weak muscles, which allows our more tense muscles to relax, so we can gradually learn to move with ease. This is a transferable skill. Finding ease and freedom of movement on the yoga mat helps us move through the challenges of life with greater ease whilst offering us new choices about how we can express ourselves in the world.
Functional Yoga with Ross
Ross’s classes are in very plain English and accessible by everyone from athletes to those new or returning to movement. Each practice will have a ‘prep’ aspect, before potentially moving into more exploration, but the option to hang back is also there; Ross believes that you don’t really know what your body will find productive until you start practising.
Important things for you to read!
I hope you are coping well amid the uncertainty of these strange times. Since our usual yoga teaching venues are now closed, Debbie and Ross are taking their yoga teaching online to help us deal with the stresses we are facing, and get the exercise we need while we are on lockdown. Please read the small print below. It explains your responsibilities whilst engaging in online yoga, and will prepare you to join your class so that on the day you are free to relax and enjoy the class without dealing with any technical issues.
How does online yoga work?
We are holding our online classes through Webex, an online meeting platform. Once you have purchased your class, you should receive automated emails with links to the classes, a meeting number, and a password for you to join. You do not need to have a Webex account to join. If you have a smart phone or a newish laptop or PC, you should be able to click on the links below and then choose to either download the desktop app or run the class from your browser.
I recommend choosing to download the app as it makes the online experience more stable. The option to download the desktop app is given at the bottom of your screen.
How to prepare for your online yoga class:
Well before the class, clear a space in your house where you have enough room to move around and won't be disturbed.
Pop your yoga mat down, and position your laptop or phone somewhere where you can see yourself, as if you were taking a picture or making a video of yourself.
Consider whether the yoga teacher will be able to see you when you are standing up and when you are lying down on your mat.
You will need to position the camera at the opposite end of the room to your yoga matt.
You can access the class on a smart phone or laptop.
Make sure your device is fully charged or plugged into the mains, and set the volume to half to avoid feedback.
Click on the link to go to Webex and download the desktop app well before the meeting starts.
How to join your online yoga class:
Click on the link and use the password above to join the meeting about 10 minutes before the meeting starts so you can check everything is working ok.
You will be given the option of installing the Webex app or of joining in with the class from your browser.
The app is more stable, and usually only takes a minute to install, but it is a good idea to instal the app well before the meeting starts.
What will happen during the session?
10 minutes before the class start time:
For the first 10 minutes of the meeting we will all be able to speak to each other as we enter the online classroom. When you speak, your face will pop up on the video for everyone to see unless you have turned your camera off. I know this might sound a bit daunting, but it is great fun. And especially nice for any people who have been stuck inside without much contact for a while. So I think its important that we allow 10 minutes at the beginning for us to talk, and for me to give you some instructions about how to use the Webex app.
Once inside the meeting you can choose to disable video and mute your microphone if you wish.
If you leave your video on, you will only be visible in full screen if you speak, and then only before and after the class.
From our perspective, it will be helpful if you leave the video on, then we can see what you are doing in the class and provide appropriate guidance.
Once the class starts you will be in a very small box at the bottom of other people's screens.
The classes will start promptly on time. If you are more than 5 minutes late you will be unable to gain access to the class.
When you arrive in the class you need to declare any health issues using the chat facility, so we can accommodate them in our teaching.
During the class:
When the class starts the teacher will mute everyone, so if you need to get the teacher's attention, please type your question in the chat facility, so they can address your concerns without disturbing others. Failing that, it is ok to wave your hands around so the teacher can see you and unmute you, but please be aware that everyone in the class will be able to hear your question if you ask this way. So, if you type in a private question, I can answer it without anyone knowing that it was you who asked. Quite often many people would benefit from your Qs, but we keep these things to ourselves in a regular class situation. I feel that one of the benefits of teaching online is that you can type in Qs without feeling that you are disturbing anyone else.
After the class:
The meeting room will be open for 10 minutes after class for feedback and chatting. You are free to leave whenever you like, but during this time of social distancing, we thought it would be nice to leave some time to talk at the end.
If you want to have a look at how things work before your class, click the links above earlier to download the app and have a look around, and here's a short video to explain a few things:

Disclaimer:
Due to the nature of online teaching, it is impossible for the teacher to see everyone in the class all of the time, so Feel Now Yoga teachers cannot accept any responsibility, nor can they be held responsible, for anything that you choose to do with your body in the comfort of your own home. By clicking on any of the links to the free classes above, or by purchasing any of the online products from the Feel Now Yoga website, you are entering into a contract whereby you agree to take full responsibility for yourself during your participation in all online classes, and your use of audio or video products downloaded from the Feel Now Yoga website. Yoga is a method of self enquiry in which the responsibility lies firmly with the practitioner to ascertain what they should or should not be doing by paying close attention to how they feel. You are strongly advised to listen to your body, to rest whenever your breathing feels laboured, or you feel tired, and to let the teacher know if you have any medical issues either by email before each class, or by using the chat facility in the online meeting space 10 minutes before the class starts. Feel Now Yoga teachers cannot be held responsible for any failure on behalf of any internet providers.
Sorry about the disclaimer. It is the nature of teaching online I am afraid. That aside, we are looking forward to seeing you all on our screen soon, and do let us know if you have any concerns or difficulties with the software well before the start of your class as we will be unable to help in the hour leading up to the class as we will be setting up the tech at our end.
Looking forward to seeing you online soon!
Warm Regards
