Yoga & Walking Retreat in North Pennines AONB: 10-12 June 2022
Yoga & Walking Retreat in North Pennines AONB: 10-12 June 2022
Yoga & Walking Retreat in North Pennines AONB, Cumbria & Northumberland
10-12 June 2022 - £170
A peaceful weekend of relaxing, therapeutic & functional yoga and walking with Debbie & Ross in a spectacular location near their new house in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This time we will be in the Northumberland part of the AONB, literally in the middle of nowhere, but still only 2 hours drive from Preston. Although there is no internet or phone signal, we are within walking distance of the caretakers of this beautifully restored camping barn on the banks of the River Allen, and our hearty evening meals will be provided by the talented Susie who makes a mean veggie curry.
This retreat is not for the faint hearted. We will be walking the fells of Cumbria & Northumberland & along the banks of the River Allen, although we will be rewarded by a hearty lunch at one of the local cafes along the way where there will be the opportunity to purchase local crafts and art. Or if you prefer pottery, there is a potter’s studio adjacent to the camping barn. This truly is an artist’s valley. And you can see why from the pictures.
The bunkhouse is divided into dorms so all genders are welcome.
Cost for the full weekend is £170. This includes 4 sessions of yoga, cosy bunkhouse accommodation on Friday and Saturday nights & an evening of song and stories around the campfire on Saturday, weather permitting. Simple buffet breakfast on Sat & Sun & hot home cooked meal on Friday & Saturday nights. All food is vegetarian.
What you need to bring with you: sleeping bag, blanket, pillow, camping mat or camping bed, insect repellant, good walking boots, swimming costume, sun cream, money for your lunches, your best songs & stories, a musical instrument if you play one and an open mind & heart.

Please note that the accommodation is a camping barn, which means that it is basic, although not entirely off grid. There is running water & electricity & a fully functioning kitchen with a coffee machine & bar that operate on an honesty system. There is a composting toilet, but no indoor shower. We are going to rig up an outdoor camping shower. There is a perfect place for it. There is no one around, so you are welcome to get naked outdoors, wear your swim wear, bathe in the river that flows past the barn or just do without for a couple of nights!
Treat it like camping, but indoors. You will need to bring a camping mat or fold up bed, inflatable mattress, or something similar to sleep on. We will not be on the floor as there are raised sleeping platforms (see pictures). There are 3 dorms, each with its own log burner and basket of wood provided. If its looking like its going to be a cold, wet weekend, we will bring extra wood.
The yoga space is newly renovated & fully heated. There is also a communal cafe bar area as well as a table tennis & pool tables for the night time entertainment. There is also an outdoor fire pit to sit around & chat. The barn is in a dark skies area. There is no light pollution, so on a clear night you can see the milky way, and if you are lucky, the northern lights. If you have a telescope bring it along if the forecast is good.
