WHO AM I? by Debbie Farrar
WHO AM I?
In times of insecurity we call lots of stuff self. It gives us comfort to assimilate stuff & claim it as self. Food, thoughts, ideologies, agendas, emotions.
Emotions are supposed to pass through us, but we cling to them & call them self. It gives us identity. Even if that identity is being a sad person, it seems better than being an empty person.
In times of harmony we are happy to be in that emptiness. We enjoy its freedom; the growth it affords us. We put down our baggage, shed our skin, enter our true nature. Turns out that lots of stuff that we used to think of as self wasn't really self after all.
